COEUR d’ALENE, ID — Felony marijuana trafficking charges await Washington state resident Jason Palmer after a traffic stop in northern Idaho uncovered 3.3 pounds of marijuana wrapped as Christmas gifts in the man’s car.
While returning home to Springdale, WA, from a trip to Montana, the 36-year-old man was reportedly pulled over for changing lanes and following drivers too closely, according to Kootenai County sheriff’s officials. The officer who pulled him over detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
According to the officer, Palmer revealed himself to be a medical marijuana patient and had a small amount of his medicine in the car. Palmer also told the officer that the gifts contained sweaters.
