WA: Everett City Council Bans Collective Medical Marijuana GardensBy Phillip Smith | StopTheDrugWar.org December 20, 2012
EVERETT, WA — The Everett city council voted to ban collective medical marijuana gardens on Wednesday, declaring medical marijuana a nuisance with an order that will expire in 18 months.
The council passed the ban, suggesting medical marijuana presents issues in regards to public safety, odor, public welfare and the protection of minors.
The vote came ahead of the expiration of the city’s moratorium on collective gardens and effectively continues it.
The nuisance ordinance made no mention of I-502, which legalizes the recreational use of marijuana in the state.
Medical marijuana patients say the ban could lead to legal action against the city.adult consumption , cannabis retail outlets , I-502 , I502 , I502 implementation , Initiative 502 , marijuana industry , marijuana legalization , personal Use , recreational use , Washington State Liquor Control Board
