DEA Raids Three LA Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

DEA Raids Three LA Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

LOS ANGELES, CA — DEA agents raided three Los Angeles medical marijuana dispensaries Wednesday afternoon, according to a preliminary report from Americans for Safe Access California director Don Duncan. More details were not forthcoming by press time.

According to Duncan, the DEA struck LA Wonderland on West Pico Boulevard, DTPG on South Hill St. near downtown, and the Iron Works in Venice.

The federal government has unleashed the DEA on dispensaries under both the Bush and the Obama administrations, although there was a respite between 2009 and late 2011, when the Justice Department had a policy of generally leaving them alone. But that policy shifted again in 2011, and both the DEA and federal prosecutors have been busy going after dispensaries since then. One Southern California dispensary operator, Aaron Sandusky, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison just this Monday.

The policy has not been limited to California. While hundreds of California dispensaries have been forced out of business by raids, asset forfeiture threats and/or prosecutions, so have dozens of dispensaries in Colorado, and a series of statewide raids in Montana in the spring of 2011 virtually wiped out that state’s dispensary scene.

The LA DEA raids come as the city grapples over what to do about dispensaries. An effort by the city council to shut them all down was blocked by popular opposition. Now, the council, and perhaps city voters, will have to consider two different municipal initiatives, one of which would limit the number of dispensaries in the city to about 100, the other of which would allow most existing dispensaries to stay open.

Obama was a coke head, and he has troubles with legalizing marijuana? Great $2.99 e-book on medical marijuana: MARIJUANA – Guide to Buying, Growing, Harvesting, and Making Medical Marijuana Oil and Delicious Candies to Treat Pain and Ailments by Mary Bendis, Second Edition. This book has great recipes for easy marijuana oil, delicious Cannabis Chocolates, and tasty Dragon Teeth Mints.

The belligerent activities of the DEA and DOJ are the surest indicator of why we must end this madness. The dispensaries were safe places for citizens to access cannabis absent the back alleys and the dealers who sell to kids. They were places where people could choose the product they wished to use with quality and safety controls, absent the criminal element and the questions of whether the cannabis had been laced or been treated with dangerous chemicals.

DEA/DOJ and other LEOs, if they were interested in making the world a better place, would ignore operations by people attempting to operate ethically. They would look at the clean facilities, the friendly, helpful staff, and say to themselves that consenting adults are making considered choices about what they will do with their bodies and lives.

Instead we get belligerence. Not rational discretion. Not respect for state law. Not respect for the will of citizens. Who is the enemy in the war on drugs? Is it the cartels or the LEO’s who oppress their citizens with equal fervor? I submit both are our enemies. It’s sad, yet true, that people possessing power in this nation oppress more than the criminals they are fighting.

We must, as a nation, continue this ‘serious conversation’ towards ending this madness.

David I like your take on this, thanks for sharing..DD

Yup, pick on MMJ patients and dispensaries. Meth labs are dangerous. Meth heads are dangerous, it’s much easier to dress up in SWAT gear and bust some people in a store that are no danger to you. I wish the DEA would actually go after dangerous cartels providing Meth to the gangs to sell, but that would mean dealing with people that shoot back. Sorry, raiding a dispensary just makes them look like is a bunch of woosie’s. Might as well club a baby seal, it’ll get the same respect.

Obama gives a bs answer on legalization on tv because he knows nobone is watching. He then lets the dea gestapo raid mmj dispensaries again where they are legal. This is police state and kgb like action. We all need to get a class action lawsuit going with about 100, 000 citizens to fight these fascists.

the website owner for those tips. All the people were definitely stimulated to
read them and have in truth been having fun with those things. Thank you for
genuinely well kind and for opting for this form of wonderful subject matter
most people are really needing to discover. My very own honest regret for not
    expressing appreciation to you sooner.

It is amazing to me that Guns are legal and cause violence and death at staggering numbers.

It is also amazing to me, that marijuana is illegal when it is A) Impossible to overdose on B) Natural (Not made in a Lab) C) Has numerous health and benefits to humans

The priorities are not in check by our elected officials. They go against the will and vote of the people.

What happened to the idea of FREEDOM in our country? It is MY body, not theirs. If I choose to use marijuana over Alcohol, Tobacco or prescription pills than that is MY right.

It is sad to see Obama say that “medical marijuana should not be a top priority” but then lets the DEA raids continue to go on. I should of not voted for Obama but for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson. Shame on me for believing the continued lies by our current administration. More raids on Medical MJ than under Bush Jr.

Marijuana should be legal because it is a safer substance to use than Alcohol, tobacco, prescription pills and guns. It is amazing marijuana is illegal while all those other items I listed are legal.

    End the propaganda against marijuana.

    Legalize or Decriminalize.

For every dispensary that is shut down, two more will spring up. Nature abhors a vacuum.
